What the heck is Gibson doing?

Uncovered pickups, small headstock with silkscreen logo and satin finish for $2500 with terrible resale is what people want?

It's 2026. A 76' RI would be more like it.

Where's the new flying V bass that was teased when that other overpriced Gene simmons signature came out? It was even on the marketing and logos.

It's funny too how he has 2 signatures one he played 1 time for the paycheck and went back to playing Corts.
It always amazes me when mediocre musicians with extremely limited playing abilities have signature models...

There have always been variations in exactly how they build most all their models over time, here with a set neck and smaller head and modern hardware.

With the predictable result:

Caught out between . . .

'It's not like a real TBird' You must hate Gibson.

and . . .

'Modern hardware, updated pickups, smaller head, attempted improvements to balance, nice try but it's not a modern bass' You must hate Gibson

Pick One. THIS is the conundrum of building legacy products forever.

These latest Tbirds have some very nice upgrades! It is almost like they are listening to what people want? https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/BAT4SN00TB--gibson-thunderbird-electric-bass-guitar-tobacco-burst-perimeter
Gibson is lost. Everyone who actually knew what they were doing in the guitar and bass lines are gone. The new Tobias Growlers have super light Paulownia bodies with heavy maple necks. No one even gave a thought to whst thst would do to the balance of the instrument. “Neckdive City”. This is one bass that was fairly light and balanced when the originals came out so there was no need to make it lighter.
