What the heck is Gibson doing?

These latest Tbirds have some very nice upgrades! It is almost like they are listening to what people want? https://www.sweetwater.com/store/de...-electric-bass-guitar-tobacco-burst-perimeter
Uncovered pickups, small headstock with silkscreen logo and satin finish for $2500 with terrible resale is what people want?

It's 2026. A 76' RI would be more like it.

Where's the new flying V bass that was teased when that other overpriced Gene simmons signature came out? It was even on the marketing and logos.

It's funny too how he has 2 signatures one he played 1 time for the paycheck and went back to playing Corts.

Gibson QC is a horror show.
I bought a brand new cme exclusive white lpjr bass when they came out and they torqued the tuners down so tight that it cracked the headstock veneer and they forgot to paint inside the horns. It's embassaring that a Chibson is sometimes actually better built.

Nothing like the early mid 90's Gibsons...

This looks like the spiritual continuation of a 2015 'Bird. Could be a good bass for a non-Thunderbird-connaisseur (or a hardcore Thunderbird collector), but I also wish they release a more vintage-correct reissue, as the early alnico pickups are IMHO much better than normal TB-Plusses and at least as good as those DiColas (which are very good in their 2018 EB basses).

I'm not overly familiar with Tbirds. What specific upgrades are you talking about?
There are a few as I see it:

1. Hipshot Supertone bridge. A serious upgrade by anyone's measurement.
2. Hipshot Ultralight tuners. High quality hardware and an upgrade that many, including me, do to Tbirds to improve the balance.
3. Downsized headstock. We can argue about the shape, but making it smaller is definitely better. Every time I pick mine up I just want to take a saw to the headstock.
4. Pickups, not sure these are exactly an upgrade, but I do like these pickups. I wish they had put chrome covers on them though.

Slightly different shape as well.
