What to do with 1000

I want to buy a bigger amp. Either combo or amp\cab. Right now I have a Fender Bassman 100 combo which is OK, but cannot keep up with my son's 150 watt Marshall and his guitar.

I have a 1000 budget. Any recomendations. I play a MIM Fender Jazz with vintage PU and a Badass bridge. I have only been playing 4 months and i play rock, metal, blues, industrial, ans would like to try some jazz as well. Not gigging yet, except with my 17 year old son, who plays real well.

Thanks,

Miguel

......I don't think you could get more bang for your buck with used gear...

Fixed it for you! ;)

I'm not of much help, since I can't recommend anything to you, but as I just said, if you used that $1000 to buy used equipment, you'll get so much more amp for your money.

When it comes to choosing a brand/model, all you can do is play as much different equipment as you can get your hands on, then make your decision. Any of the brands with mid-to-high price range should give you what you want, it's just a matter of tonal tastes.

Hey man ultimate bang for buck is MARKBASS hands down!!

Ck out some of the threads here about their fantastic products. Nothing but rave reviews for lightweight, powerfull, clean sounding, and economical amps, combos, and cabs. Would be lightyears ahead of what your playing through now.

Used gear is a great way to go. you can usually find some good deals out there. I would go with a min. of 500 watts. As for what brand? There are alot of good ones. Ashdown, Ampeg, GK, Eden etc.... all good. For cabs I personaly like 12's and 10's. If you want new amp, Carvin makes some excellent gear, that wont break the bank. Maybe one of these.
http://www.carvin.com/products/single.php?ItemNumber=BR610&CID=BA A great combo with plenty of power to add
another cab later if needed.
