What to do with an unused hole...

Recently acquired a Fender Marcus Miller JB that having the preamp and pups swapped out with Sadowsky equipment leaves an empty hole in the pick guard where the active/passive toggle switch once was. My first thought was to install some stacked pups and a coil splitter but it seems that there isn't much to gain from splitting stacked jazz pups though I haven't done extensive research on the matter. Maybe series/parallel? Would greatly appreciate some creative suggestions

Series/parallel seems both easy and popular here on TB but I don’t care for that mod personally.
When I read your title I was initially thinking of unused screw-holes left in the body from removed accessories like the pick guard I took off my Sting model precision. Seems I’ve always got a few I wish I could do away with.

When I went with the Marcus Retro in my MM5, I actually had to add another switch. In all seriousness, I would vote for adding an active/passive switch.

Ok how about a switch that shocks you if you flip it? You can use the flyback transformer from an old camera flash.

If you are talking about series/parallel as in running one pickup in series through the other it could be interesting with stacked humbuckers (I've never tried it with stacked humbuckers, only split-coil Js), but a 4PDT switch series/parallel that switched the connection of the coils for each pickup at the same time might be more useful in my opinion. This only works if your pickups each have 4 pickup wires to work with though, and I think most stacked humbuckers are hardwired inside with the coils in one configuration. You could fool around with a bypassable Ric-inspired high-pass capacitor for the bridge pickup that would add versatility to the blended pickup tone. I fooled around with various versions of this in a Jazz years ago and there were definitely some cool unique tones to be found that mitigated some of that big mid-scoop that occurs with both pickups up.

The Sadowsky HC pups that are in there now are inline split coil so series/parallel is interesting option. Ideally I would like to be able to switch between humbucking and single coil but it seems like the design of most stacked jazz pups won't benefit from coil splitting...
