There is a local org here that provides music education w studio time and training to high school students, it is a great resource for the kids and wish I had something like that when I was young. So yes, there are lots of such charities.

We have a family friend who is a widow with 2 sons. We do what we can to help.
Or I could spend it on booze. Either way.

We made a donation to a food bank. We will use the rest to offset some losses pertaining to a parcel of cow pasture that we leased to a neighbor who's house burned down at Christmas time, right after they handed us a check for the yearly rent.
