What to get...

Hey gang,

So I'm looking to drop some doe on a new rig. I've been jamming with a group of guys for 3 years and have finally found a committed vocalist to start playing shows. My current set-up is a GK 1×12 200w combo that is on its last leg. Not looking to have this crap out on me at a show. Frankly it isn't loud enough to fill some of the venues we want to play. I'm trying to veer away from combos and looking for something that is more customizable and that I can upgrade in the future. Just looking for some tips on what to look for when looking for both a head and cab. Probably looking at getting a solid state as my budget is about 1grand. Definitely want something loud...idk if a 4x10 is overkill or if a 2x10 will do the job. Head wise...I have several pedals that I use regularly so effect wise I dont need anything crazy.

Any suggestions? I'm driving about an hour and a half away to some "legendary" guitar store call "House of Guitars" in upstate New York...maybe some of you have heard of it...any feedback appreciated. Thanks!

Gk 700 RBII used is pretty bulletproof, at least in my experience. That along with a used GK neo 212 (newer 8Ω version) shouldn't set you back more than $750-800. It ought to be loud enough, and if it's not you could add another neo 212.

I'm fairly sure someone will come along and say I'm crazy, and that GK sucks...... Oh well.

I grew up in Western New York and can tell you that House of Guitars is legendary for good reason, if you're looking for vintage gear. You'd be hard-pressed to beat it. But you're not looking for vintage gear. Check out their website to verify what I'm saying. It's admittedly been since the bronze age that I've been there.
