what type of paint?

ok for luthiers out there, what type of paint is used for painting a guitar from factory? is it like an automotive paint or something else? I dont want to rattle my project, I rather use my gun and do it right but i cant find anything on painting guitars except for the ghetto home ways of painting. I want a finish like a factory guitar.

There are many very high tech painting methods used by guitar factories. As an individual your best bet is to buy the book on guitar finishing that is published by Stewart Macdonald. I think it's one of Dan McCrostie's (sp?) books. I've used some of the techniques and they work great.
