What type of wood is this?

I did about a week ago and still haven't heard back. I've always heard their customer service is their weakest link.
Looks like Spanish cedar, which isn't cedar but smells a lot like cedar.

That was my best guess too, so I think I'll call it Spanish Cedar from now on... sounds good!

Looks close to Mahogany but not enough grain definition and not the right color or grain for Jatoba

I agree with the other guys, it looks like Spanish Cedar. But it could be South American Mahogany.
When the supply of true Honduras mahogany started drying up in the early 1980's, lumber brokers started looking for a comparable substitute species.
They started selling a variety of mahogany subspecies from other countries that they lumped into a generic variety that was loosely called South American mahogany.
Most of the mahogany in this grouping comes from Brazil and Peru. It is not as dense and classy looking as true Honduras mahogany. Some of it is very stringy and spongy. Not fun to work. Some of it's OK though. The slower growing hill timber.
So I would say that this is either generic S.A. mahog or Spanish cedar.
It is definitely not alder, cherry, padauk, etc. Also not chechen. If it were chechen, you would not be able to pick the bass up. It would weigh a ton. I have some chechen planks. Takes two guys to pick them up comfortably and they're only 8 ft long.
