What was your dream rig when your first started playing?

When I started playing in late 2005, I set my eyes on an Ampeg SVT-CL and a matching 8x10.

Since then, I've been all GK. Who would have thought solid state could sound so good for rock?

Remarkably, it was probably some kind of Ampeg. In the late '70's, there wasn't a lot of really good stuff. I just wanted to get rid of that danged '65 Bassman 50 and 212 cab. I ended up with Peavey, which was OK. Now I can be a little more choosy.

I started in the early 90s. Back then I wanted an Ampeg 810 and the all-tube head to match. I still want the head but no way I'd want to deal with that cabinet. That is, unless I get famous and can pay someone to carry it for me.

Oh man! When I first started playing bass I thought the be all end all rig would be that Carvin 1 x 18"/4 x 10" bass stack. With the Redline amplifier, I think. What more could i possibly ever need?!!! Little did I know! Now it's Ampeg, BagEnd and QSC. Still toy with the idea of getting that Carvin stack just to say that I got it. Maybe for rehearsal or the rougher gigs. By the way reality dictated that my first rig be a Peavey TNT.

I saw peavey had a cab with 1x18 and 2x10 the 1820 IIRC. I was thinking two of those and I'd be set for a long time.

I started in about 1972 & I didn't know what ppl used- I saw the name VOX on some early clips & of course we ALL Knew Fender-So Probly a Bassman 120 to start with, til a year later I saw "Creedence......" on TV & the Bass Player -Stu Cook was it? - Had a BIG silver thing as tall as him almost- So I wanted one of them.... found out a few yrs laterm it was an Ampeg SVT-300W all Valve. My 1st amp was 120w all tube also-just NOT AMpeg OR Fender !!!! ;-)

Round Early 05 I remember wanting an Mesa 4x10 & 1x15 with a M-pulse 600 head... still wouldnt mind one but im happy with my Ampeg/Eden setup atm

Marshall JCM800 2205 and matching 4x12.... i used to play guitar. i eventually ended up with a JCM2000 DSL50 and a Mesa Recto 212 which sounded good but i was playing guitar and things change. back when i first started playing guitar and dabbling in bass i thought that SWR was badass. like an SM900 into a megoliath or maybe a mesa. i thought warwicks and spectors were the end-all be-all of basses at the time too (blame incubus, 311, and every other band on MTV or the radio from 97-01). music man and gk are more my speed these days

all i wanted at first was something with more power.

First it was GK coz flea uses Gk and i was all about the flea

Then it was mesa m pulse because Justin From tool was using m pulse at the time and i was (and still am) a big tool nerd

Then i learned some things about amps and had this dream of having 2 V8s powering 4 8x10s....that was my "if i become a rockstar" rig.

I bought a Sunn 2000S around 1977. It was probably about 8 yrs old when I got it. Had the bass boost switch on it. It weighed as much as I did (back then). I paired it with an Ampeg B-15 bottom.

Gallien Krueger and Hartke rig. two 15's and two 10's. This was the 80's. Well, at least, now I own my first dream rig. It's just now my practice rig.

It was one of those Peavey 3620 cabinets with the 2-18" and 2-10" configuaration. With one of those cool Peavey MAx 800 or something heads...From that old show L'Amour Rocks...

I ended up getting the Peavey Mark IV bass head with the 215BW cabinet that I still own and it sounds awesome.
