What was your dream rig when your first started playing?

I was 11 i wanted an SWR LA15 or a 350x then i discovered "THE POWER OF BASS" [for my slow thinking friends that means Ampeg"]

In the late sixties a military jazz band (Air Force?) played outdoors at our high school. Their bass player was playing through an Ampeg Portatone flip-top and I went nuts over that sound. I eventually got one of my own, and I still love it for upright and quiet gigs.

Sunn Coliseum 880 with 2 2x15.

Ended up with that very rig towards the end of my power trio days in the late '70's. Guitarist was running a full Marshall stack and we reached detante.

Modern gear is so much nicer to live with; I never need more than two 15s and my trusty SWR 350 these days.

I started playing bass way back in 1960, I was only 15 at the time and playing through a Danelectro double cutaway through a (shared with my cousin) Fender 410 Concert amp.

During that time, I dreamt of having a Fender Jazz with a piggyback Bassman.

All I wanted was a bass rig. I started through a powered JBL PA speaker and even did some gigs through it.

I love my 1001rb and would just like an Epifani 210 or sumfin

I started playing in a Led Zeppelin/Rush cover band in 1981 through a cheap guitar head (garnet) and a homemade speaker cabinet. Within a year I replaced it with an Ampeg 100 watt head and 4x10 cabinet. I had my dream rig within three years of playing in 1984, an Ampeg SVT(1978) and 8x10 cabinet(1978) that I still own. Too heavy to move though so I currently use a Markbass LMII and SWR Goliath II.

When I first really started playing (at about 13), I wanted anything having to do with an Ampeg 8x10 (which I've got). I was into classic rock and still am, and that was the staple in backlines, so I figured, 1000 touring bands can't be wrong.

So that, and either an 1970's Ampeg SVT or Mesa 400+. Those were the two heads I was gassing over at age 13. Still am!

Back in ancient times I wanted to play 'Heavy Music' running one of Gibson's newly released Les Paul Recording Bass thru a Tuck N Roll Kustom 400 head & two Kustom 315 JBL cabs. I was gonna take over the world....... Well my paper route allowed me to get a Kustom 200 & 315 cab. I soon found out I didn't want the whole world after all.

Hey! Cool!! I have a picture of me with my '72 Les Paul Recording bass playing through a red sparkle Kustom 200 w/3-12's! We must be related!
That brought back memories, I ended up getting a Kustom 315 cabinet, and by '76 had an SVT with 2 cabinets....16-10" speakers! I don't think I could haul that around anymore, my aching back...
