An Alamo 'Fury' 1x15 combo. Boy, it was terrible. I almost felt guilty taking money for it when I sold it, but the kid who bought it from me thought it was the most awesome thing he had ever heard. Go fig'r.

What was your first Bass Amp?

I got my first Bass, a Zim Gar from a pawn shop B.& B. loan in Muncie, Indiana. Since I didn't have enough money for an amp right away, I had to be creative. We had a old television set in the family room, ( a converted garage) with a 12 inch speaker in the bottom ( yep, it was was one of those wooden consoles like you would see on the set of Happy Days). My dad and mom were into Square and Round Dancing big time, so he had a single channel Bell P. A. amplifier with a Volume and possibly ( I can't remember if it did or not) a tone control. I ran a unshielded cable with a phone jack on one end, and two alligator clips on the other end, that I attached to the speaker terminals, on inside the bottom of the T.V., and voile I had my first bass amp. Which by the way, never left the house.
A 1x15 combo amp that was either made by Peavey, Fender, SWR or Crate... haha i can't remember now. It's logo had been removed and i was pretty gear-ignorant back then.
It had a broken power cord jack, so i had to keep a pair of pliers on me all the time!

A Silvertone 1483 1x15" piggyback, bought new in 1965.
Not much power at all, so onstage you could almost, but not quite, hear any bass through the darn thing. However, they are apparently still much prized even today by harp players.

First bass amp was a Sunn Beta Bass combo, with a 100 watt SS head and a 15 inch driver. I still have it!

A homebuilt copy of an old fender bassman that i built myself in highschool electronics and a home built 215 with jensen speakers. Still have the head after all these years and it sounds sweet for guitar.
Ooooh! That was my SECOND amp, after a Marlboro Sound Works combo -- 50 or 60 watts through one 15.
I miss that Beta sometimes...
My first amp?? Way back in '78 I bought a used Fender Bassman 50 (tubes!), with (IIRC) a 4 x 12 cab. I got it cheap, because it didn't work at the time. But I fixed it up (aspiring electrical engineer that I was) w/o too much problems.
It was a little underpowered for gigs, though, I ha dto to borrow a friend's amp back then.
I (foolishly) gave it to my roommate when I got married (in '83) and kicked him out of the house we were renting.

HH VS Bassamp - made the mistake of leaving it behind at a gig about 17 years ago.
Just found an identical one on eBay a few months back and snapped it up.
(I'm telling myself that it's the same one, even though that's not so likely).

My first was a 70's Montgomery Ward SS combo...can't remember much about it except it was a 12" with 3 channels, guitar, bass, keyboards. I often ran all 3 at once with it, too.
About 10 years ago, I was still gigging a set of Ross "Typhoon" PA speakers back home in Canada. My dad probably still has them somewhere.. They were horribly heavy but sounded fantastic! 1X18" 1X8" (I think) and a horn. You could bi-amp them and everything, which I never understood because they weren't rated to handle much power.
If I remember correctly, they were actually made in Texas.
