Find a sound company that does PA for live bands. They usually supply everything you need for a live performance. Monitors, Mains and Subs. Usually pretty reasonable. 200/300 a night. The best part is they setup and tear down and run it for ya. A good DI would serve you better than running low end amps. Just shoot yourself through the monitor system. A good DI can be had for 200ish. Save up and get real equipment.

it's not so much cost it's my budget. I can get the TC electronics shipped tome for free or the behringer bxd3000h ultra-lightweight 300-watt 2-channel bass Both in my budget and. Worry about Cabinet next month. I am on disability and am on a thin budget. I live month to month 1193 is all I get. Thats' rent food gas insurance phone utilities. Leaves me very little to work with.

Being a bass player is expensive. If I add up everything I've currently got equipment wise I'm probably in the 25k range. Conservatively speaking. If you don't have the scratch it's unfortunate.

I have the BX4500H head and can confirm it's likely close to the 450 watts it's rated at. Drove my two Dr. Bass cabs loud, thick, and clear. Be careful with the DEEP and Ultrabass (octave) functions however and these can destroy speakers at band volume levels. Experiment with them at lower volume levels first.

I use 3 different ones. Depends on tuning for standard and Drop D Washburn Force for Drop B BCRich Warlock for D Standard Jackson Spectra. I hate tunning and I have different gauge strings on each so I get tone i want especially for Dop B i have 125 65s they work best. We usually play 2 sets one A mix of 80's 90's metal 2n'd a lot of 90's an NUMetal Slipknot Mudvayne Static-X lot that requires the Drop B. So I don't have to tune I carry 3. I've had the BC for 20 years the Washburn about 3 and the Jackson was my first brand new I bought in January.

Reading that post reminds me why I only play 5 string anymore. I have 5 of them.

I tried a 5 at one time being self-taught, I was lost I'm now taking lessons so i know really know the instrument. I learned songs off YouTube and friends. I couldn't tell you notes or anything or scales. So, I was playing with an original cover mix band. They'd say were in key of c i had no idea *** it meant. So, they'd teach me what they wanted made learning songs frustrating for them. So I dropped out even though lead guitarist and singer wanted me to stay others weren't so understanding. Guitarist said he like being able to show me what he wanted since he and singer wrote most of the songs. I couldn't transpose songs from a 4 to the 5.

I bought a combo to get me through for now since we now have a PA. And I will be saving over the next few months. To get me a heading cabinet. Hopefully I can save up about $1,000. Then I think that will suffice for a decent system.
