A cheaper Ampeg Bass Cab ($250 - $300ish)? Or a cheaper Fender Bassman Bass Cab ($300 - $350ish)? I've been playing bass for about 5 years now, and have been using my crappy Behringer beginner amp, and I'm sick of it. I'm much better then it (not to sound cocky, but it's true), and it's time for an upgrade.

It'd be nice if some people could recommend models of the Ampeg/bassman amps too. I'm not certain this is what I'm looking for, but I'm going out to look tomorrow, and I'd like to take a look at some of these suggestions. Thanks,

The BA series is their cheap line of combos with the BA115 being a popular favorite...it's good but a little deep in the lows and bright in the highs. My favorite combo they make is the B100R. A little more expensive but it's as close to an old B-15 as you can buy new these days.

Then there's the SVT-VR/810E rig...that's a nice little combo ;)

Then why buy a beginner cab in the Fender or Ampeg line? Let her fly and buy that VR and get the matching SVT-810AV cab for the VR instead of the E... They're the same just a matching color grill. Then you'll never need anything else in your life. That could be a very good feeling. I've never gotten there myself, but if it works out, tell me what it feels like, Please. BOB

I've had an ampeg 220 watt 2x10 for a while now. Nice enough amp, but I've had some issues and they seem true across the board. They all seem to have a high end hiss that never stops, and although the 5 presets are cool enough, they all have some modeled sound so I can never find a nice pure tone - always has frustrated me to no end. However, its done a decent job and it sounds better than anyone else out here at college with me.
