Hi folks,
Having a bit of a dilemma here.
My main bass is a wonderful P Bass that just does what I love.
I've currently got a Pedulla Rapture J2 as a second bass, as something different when I want another flavour. It's a bit too polite for me and so I'm trying to choose between two old flavours.
I'd either get a passive American Standard Jazz, or get a Stingray.
I'm a very set and forget kind of player, hence why I love the P-Bass. I'm probably basing my experience with Jazz basses on the Pedulla but I find I have to fight reasonably hard to get a tone I like in the mix, mainly getting enough mids with a solid low end. I've never been able to play a Stingray in a band setting but I'd be keen on it if it'll work in rocky, dirty alternative kind of sound.
Your thoughts? What would you have as your second bass?
