I'm looking for a good task chair for my modest recording station. I'm spending many long hours in a cheap Office Depot chair, and it's definitely tweaking my back. Trouble is, most of the good chairs out there seem to be designed for guys who don't have a bass (or guitar) in their lap - all lounging, and the arms get in the way.

What are you guys sitting on? Any suggestions for a studio rat with a torqued back and a sore buttocks? Much obliged.

I am sitting on a 20 year old kitchen chair. :( my tailbone is numb, and my back feels like someone tasered me.

I was checking out some of those kneeling chairs. Puts more of the pressure on your knees and hips, takes a load off your rear. Sounds like heaven.

Those kneeling chairs are the shiz.. I don't own one but I have used them on several occasions, and I wouldn't mind having one.

I have a studio/office combo, and when officing I use a regular office chair with arms and such. When studioing I use a drummer's throne. I find it to be quite nice, actually, for playing, recording, whatevs.

I've got an old padded diner chair.
It works great with the exception that it has no wheels
If I could afford it I'd be looking at some higher end drum throwns.
One of the drummers I play with has one that is super nice,
it's on wheels, has an air lift, thick padding and a back rest that sits you in a good position so that your posture is good.

When it's time to play bass, I have a FCB1010 pedalboard that handles the recording commands. I'm standing or on a stool.

Office chairs aren't really great for that kind of things to me.

I've had it for years, but it went through a mod about 10 years ago when memory foam pillows came out.

It's a yard sale kitchen chair, one of the older kind made of REAL wood ( I think it's oak, it's heavy as hell ) It had no arms. I took the back rest off and used two Yamaha motorcycle seat cushions duct taped together and sewed two pillow cases together to fit it. Ghetto, but it was ( and is ) great. The only mod is, as I mentioned, I carved an over sized memory foam pillow as a top for it. In the summer it gets very warm, so I left it detachable.
