What's a good interface/software package for bass covers?

I'm looking to making some Youtube bass covers of me playing over tracks. I have heard about the focusrite and presonus interfaces being good for one or two intruments. But what about a basic, easy to use software? I am using a PC, so no garageband.

Are there any base level packages you all recommend? I may use it in the future to record guitar and bass original stuff as well.

How are you planning to connecting the interface to your PC? USB I would assume...? What's your budget? How many inputs do you need it to have (i.e. if you're doing a combination of DI and mic'ing a cab you'll need two, but if you're only going DI a single input will suffice)? Do you need dedicated headphone and monitor outputs? Is your PC adequately powerful to monitor downstream of the converters, or will you need to monitor your signal before it hits the converters?

Most interfaces will come with some sort of DAW software. Beginner/Home user versions of Ableton Live, Pro Tools, Cubase etc. There's Reaper, too, which is free. Just google "DAW" and see what you come up with. Download trials for all of them and figure out which one suits you best.

If you have an iPhone or iPad, buy a usb-interface that runs native (most do). The cameras are really good (I own the Zoom Camera Q4 that is a special device for recording music and I prefer the camera quality of the iPad and iPhone, although the Zoom isn't bad).
If you want to keep it simple (only two tracks) and you want to keep the balance between the song and your bass as recorded, you can simply use the camera app. It will use the usb-interface as the audio-source.
That's the way I do it.
Which camera do you want to use? How do you want to keep it synchron?
