What's a slap switch?

Yes, it's mids cut switch. It lowers the mid frequencies to make the bass sound better if you're going to slap. With mids boosted or in normal level when you slap it's not sounding "tight"... it's like playing in a barrel :) (in most cases).
Most basses don't have the switch, but have the mid potentiometer so you can control the amount of boost/cut instead. Of course there is bass and treble control too :).
 
slap switch enganges some extra equalizing. it makes your bass has 5 band equalizer (just like my bass with SD preamp) those cut the mid in certain frequency and boost the low, also in certain frequency. it makes the sound sharper n cleaner i think.
