There’s no requirement for the apostrophe before the “S” in decade names or other numerical names like 50s and 2000s, since there are no omitted letters, though it’s also acceptable to include one. The term may be written “’50s” since “19” is being omitted, but “50s” is fine too. Logically one should be able to use both apostrophes, writing “’50’s,” but this looks awkward and is seldom done.

Fine, I'm guilty of applying sloppy ordinary useage to fix the error.
OP's useage is confusing because there's something out there called a 4003s. This is what editors fix.

4003s....slightly less cool

Is Candy Apple Green the official color name from Rickenbacker? Looks more like Granny Smith green, but I’m guessing that wouldn’t be good marketing?
