The sun's starting to rise on my corner of the world, and I'm starting work with a cup of oolong tea and a microwaved egg sandwich with some fresh baby spinach. I don't like it much but it's cheap and keeps me alive without too much guilt.

If I'd had more time, I would have made one myself from scratch, or perhaps a burrito or a nice eggy salad. The point is, one way or another, when morning comes and I have anything resembling a choice in the matter, I'll generally start the day with eggs.

That said, I'm no picky eater, so while I sit here daydreaming about better things, indulge me-

What do you eat for breakfast most often, and what do you prefer when you have a choice?

Since I come in early everyday and eat at my desk, cooking really isn't an option. So it's some sort of protein/energy bar followed by a Little Debbie snack cake. (They cancel each other out nutrition-wise, I'm assuming.)

Hot tea or iced tea, depending on the time of year.

It gets pretty random for me. Sometimes a piece of fruit. Sometimes a bacon egg and cheese on a roll with salt pepper ketchup. Sometimes a hard boiled egg. Sometimes a diner breakfast. Sometimes a muffin or some other kind of pastry that's essentially cake yet people eat for breakfast anyway. Sometimes just coffee. Today it was a banana, a hard boiled egg and coffee.

Had a half a cup of a dark roast pour over, brand unknown but it was good. Now I've started my first liter of water for today. I planned poorly this morning and left my breakfast on my kitchen counter :) So, nadda until I decide to go get something horrid and unhealthy from the cafe. I probably will skip until lunch however.

My usual is an egg white delight from McD's. In weight watchers points its a very manageable 7. It has a decent flavor and fills me until first break.

If I have time ( ok if I allow myself to have time . . . ) I like to make an eggwhite omelet with spinach, mushrooms and feta. It hits the spot. I'm also fond of good old fashioned oatmeal.

i'm doing a bunch of work after 3 hours of sleep, then going back to bed, so for me it'll probably be a quest bar (double chocolate chunk) and a bottle of water, maybe some lemon ginger tea. when i get back up, though, i'm making a spinach, mushroom and cheese omelette.

Tell me more about how you make that sandwich. It actually sounds pretty good to me. And I love healthy(ish) and fast.

I start with a Special K microwave sandwich usually, or comparable sort, take the cheese off and toss it in the trash, then heat up the sanwich and throw a handful of fresh leaf spinach and a slice of *actual* cheese to melt while it cools. It tastes just a bit more natural that way, and probably has a vitamin or two, maybe.
