Those black limba bodies look great! Curious what the neck looks like?

I’ll upload some pics of the necks when I’m back in the shop tomorrow. The SC is maple with birdseye maple board and the other one is maple with ebony.
When your daughter says she wants a bass for Christmas, and she wants it to look kinda like a Steinberger but a little different, you get your butt in gear and start building!
Also have a guitar that's nearly done. Just working out finishing and pickup options with the soon to be owner.
A friend of mine sent a Telecaster body to me for some customization. He wanted a humbucker routed in the neck position and some checkered and white binding added.
Here I have the humbucker placement marked. The route ended up looking a little funny due to the overlap with the single coil route, but the pickguard will cover all of that.
Here I've routed for the bindings. The checkered stuff was quite a lot shorter than the white binding. So, I routed 2 steps so that the entire height of the white binding would be utilized.
The checkered binding just after installation. I use acetone only to weld the bindings into place. It works great and doesn't make a big mess. It also lets me work on small areas at a time at a pleasant pace.
After the checkered binding dried overnight, I used a scraper to ensure that the space for the white binding was nice and square. Then the white binding was installed the same way with acetone. After everything dried overnight, everything was scraped flush and the body got a quick light sanding.
I'm not sure where he got the body, but it is really beautiful. It's also chambered and super-lightweight, just a few pounds. It's now on its way back to the owner and he should have it on Monday.

Very nice! Any new sources on checkered binding? I might be needing some.
Here are some pics of the necks to go with the bodies I posted yesterday. They 5 string is still in the very early stages. The 4 string is getting close.

I've got some here too, they claim they may not be able to get it again, but they've also said that before.
It's a good selling ploy, but eventually they will run out unless they contract someone in China to make it that way for cheap and sell it for that elevated price... which most likely they will.
Yep, @Beej beat me to it, but Winfield has it right now. I believe the piece that was provided to me was from an earlier batch of the stuff that Winfield had.
Personally, I've ordered some of the "wonky" checkered stuff from Rothco & Frost. And, a while back I ordered a couple dozen pieces from a company in Germany... I don't recall the name off the top of my head. Since I've had the chance to look at several pieces from various vendors, it looks like all of these have originated from the same source, wherever that may be.
Just checked their Reverb listing... WOW! How on earth are they getting $35 a piece for that binding? I don't think I've paid more than $8 or so. I guess I should sell some of mine!
Today I tested yesterdays work. It was been tested by my brother, an excellent guitar player and really critic person in good way . He said that it can be better (as always) but it play quite good. Hotter side of strat.

Yeah, I looked at that. I probably need 2 pieces, maybe 3 to be safe. I can’t see spending $70-100+ on binding. I think the guitar originally had W/B/W so I may just go with that or B/W/B depending on how I feel about existence in general.
