He does cool basses, and for a great price too, I've been mulling over having him do me a bass with a single MM pickup in the MM sweetspot, probably his standard shape, maybe one of my designs, that I never got around to building myself, lol.

Mike's Zoot website is rather out of date - he's in the process of bringing all the detail about his instruments in under the new Link Removed.

For those of you who're interested, Mike's building himself a Funkmeister 5 (his take on the P bass), and he's been doing a very comprehensive build diary - Link Removed.

As has been said, Mike's a total gent - and a font of LOTS of stories - some more repeatable than others.

I should say this I do have a certain connection to Mike - I am helping him get his new Purple Chili website together.

Squarepusher, aka Tom Jenkinson - maker of esoteric, jazzy drum 'n' bass, ranging from the almost-unlistenable to the sublime. He's not only a totally amazing bass player, but he also plays killer drums and classical guitar, not to mention knowing more or less everything there is to know about producing electronic music.

I recommend getting hold of Just A Souvenir, Music Is Rotted One Note and Hello Everything for a taste of what the man can do. Ultravisitor's good too, although there's a few tunes on there that I find hard to listen to - lots of noise and dissonance. Lots of good clips of him on Youtube too - check out the clips from his solo bass concert.
