Excluding strings, what's the best modification you've made to a bass guitar that resulted in an improvement to the sound?
I love those strings. What the issue w them?Getting rid of those terrible, terrible D'Addario nickels that often come with new basses. Ew.

hmm, maybe Im selling myself short.I've had them on three different basses. Two G&Ls and a Human Base.
They made one of the G&Ls and the Human Base sound absolutely dull. I even wondered if my Glockenklang pre had a problem.
Out of the three, they were almost acceptable on the G&L L-1505, an extremely bright and trebly bass. I ended up changing them for DR Pure Blues which are also good at reining in the L-1505's crazy but are to my ears much more subtle.
Plus the Low B feels like rubber to me.
I should add I'm not at all a D'Addario hater. I love their half rounds.
