The cheapest new 6 string bass that you would still enjoy playing though it would sit next to pretty good instruments such as a MIA Fender, a Musicman, a G&L or any in that category ?

What's the cheapest 6 string that is still worth it ?

Not sure what "cheapest" is to you cause some of those basses you mentioned can be $1000+, but I recently bought an Ibanez SR506 and enjoy it. Nice slim neck, bart electronics, and got it for under $450. Does have a good case of neck dive but I'm thinking that will be a problem with a lot of 6 stringers out there.

What I mean by the cheapest means the cheapest... but still worthy in terms of tone and playability to sit next to more expensive basses. The Ibanez looks nice... I'll look over Peaveys
I'm with the Ibanez SR506. The cost is good, even new. I have a 500 and LOVE it. Great sounding, great playing, sustain for days, can be made string through at the drop of a hat. Great instrument. Schecter makes a nice one too, but you better like thick necks. Anything that sells for less than these (new) seems to suffer from quality issues.
But of course, you could just go for the gold and get a nice one, regardless of price. Never fear the used market either.

I have a Peavey Fury VI.
For the $150 I paid (used), came with hardcase, tuner, strap, and stand.
It's fantastic. I dunno how it holds up to MIA stuff, but it's killer for it's price range and definitely top notch, I'd say professional.
Highly biased towards Peavey here, take note.

There was one here in the classifieds that just sold last week, shame this guy didn't see it he'd have a hell of a bass
