whats the difference between quad coil to dual coil?

hello im on my way to purchase a 6 string fretless bass mad out of korina body maple neck and ebony fingerboard
i wnat to buy barts soapbars and i dont know know whats the differnce between the quad and dual sound?

If wired in parallel think of them like:
Quad coil: two Ps in parallel
Dual coil: two Js in parallel

I have the 6 string quad coil barts in my bass. If you are looking at the xxm56c you are looking at some mighty fine pickups. They can be wired up with a toggle switch to go from dual coil to quad coil (maybe single coil too I can't remember). I chose not to wire mine like that, I have them pre-wired at quad coil only. It is a fantastic sound. I have moments where I just play my bass and listen to the tone from those pickups. They were worth every penny, I'm glad I didn't try to save a few bucks and buy the dual coil ones.
Just my opinion of them.

if you have two coils in your bass you can wire them in a couple of ways, the most used are: series and parallel, both are humbucking

Series are tend to have more MIDs, while Parallel are to have 50% lower output (in compare with series), but more LOWs and HIs.

Every coil has two output wires, parallel does mean that two outputs wired to ground and another pair wired to hot output, wiring in series does mean that you wire one coil output to ground, anether output wired to next coil, and the other output wired to hot output, so it is like two coild are wired next to each other.

And if it is the bart quad coils there is an explanation about parallel and series ect for your tech to wire the way you want it which is included with the pickups.
