What's the difference between Spector NS Pulse 5 and Legend Classic 5?

I'm looking to buy my first *atleast decent* bass. For what I've found, a Spector is my go to - I really like the sound and for the price, they seem to offer a good package. However, apart from the pickups, are there other differences, that make the NS Pulse cost 250€ more?

I asked about a Legend 4 in the Spector club thread, no responses. Maybe you will have better luck than me.
They aren't $2000 or more so maybe the folks with "real" Spectors don't have any experience with them.

Ns Pulse has swamp Ash body vs normal Ash, roasted maple neck, ebony fingerboard, sand blasted body. I think it's a lovely spec, particularly with the EMG's.

I was so very close to pulling the trigger on a Cinder red pulse but told myself I don't need to spend that much to play at home.

On Facebook, there is a "Spector Official Fan Group". Check them out. I am sure they will get back to you quickly. The Talkbass thread for Spector Owners is sometimes tough to get the response you are looking for.

I love Spectors, but currently have 3 Euro 5's. I can't comment on the two you are looking into.

Having no experience with either, I can't comment. However, I recommend at least going on the Spector site so you can check the spec differences of each and compare.

They're both made in Korea and so quality level shouldn't be that different. I have a few Euros and US Fortes, and they are excellent basses. Not the same obviously, but I've read from other Spector Club members that have them, that the Korean models are also well made basses.

Hey there. I used to own the Spector NS Pulse 5 in cinder red, and the differences between that and the Legend 5 Classic are:
• the Pulse body is sandblasted ash
• the Pulse fretboard is macassar ebony
• the Pulse 5 comes with EMG 40DC pickups vs the Barts on the Legend

They both have the TonePump Jr on-board preamps, both have curved bodies (but don’t expect Euro or USA curvature here).

My NS Pulse 5 was beautifully made. It was on par with my Fender American Pro basses. Fretjob is superb. There’s a tiiiiny amount of neck dive, but easily curable with a grippy strap or lighter tuners.

Such a total package for a very reasonable price.

My main concerns (if these check out, I'd buy one in a heartbeat):

-I've never played an EMG P/J

Tuning stability on my Pulse 5 is wonderful. No need to swap the tuners UNLESS you wanted lighter ones. That’s it.
The 5 has EMG 40DC pickups installed, but I actually got an EMG 40P5 for the neck for the P bass-ish tones in the position. The 40DC pickups are versatile, but they don’t really have a tonal identity. I much prefer the actual EMG PJ set on the Pulse 4.
