The Spirocore Stark is a monster of a string. The main reason that I think it works so well for me is that I regularly play with the "E" string dropped down a full step to D. Without a lot of explanations, lets just say that it works well for me, the music I play, and my bass seems to respond a lot better at that pitch. Pitz is in the acceptable range and it works well for arco.
The Stark is a nice string at E, but you have to show it who is boss. Tuned down a step, it really shines in my application and I don't feel like it trashes my hands the way it would at regular pitch. On the right bass, all of that mass rumbles the room!
Buy a Stark E and give it a try; the worst case scenario is that you find out it is not the right setup for you and you sell it on the calssifieds for $20 off. They are pretty easy on your wallet- about $60; 'not like you are curious about an Olive E....
