Yep. Sounds like he's getting a little too excited and playing ahead of the beat.Good times! The bass line is running away from the drummers time. Great example of how to ruin the feel.
"Good Times" inspired a lot of bass lines
LOL I do it upside down (lefty with a right-handed bass). When it was my only option and the only way I approached the instrument it was still just learning where to put one's fingers and where the notes are.Don't even want to think about simple chord shapes playing the bass upside down. lets just say I'm not going to buy a left handed bass and try it anytime soon.
Still trying to understand playing up side down. Obviously access to the upper register must be less than ideal. Also say slapping and popping an octave quickly in one motion. Slapping on the E string and popping the D string for example, what does the technique look like? Unless your slapping with your ring finger and popping with your thumb? Maybe I'm missing something here. Like I said I have absolutely no experience playing upside down, just trying to wrap my head around it.LOL I do it upside down (lefty with a right-handed bass). I understand what you are saying in that when I pick up a lefty instrument I have to stop and think about where I am more so than my righty daily drivers.
I am happy to try to help and also learn myself: Firstly, I don't slap, pop or breakdance so I can't help with any of that. Mono Neon is all over that though, upside down and backwards and all. If I snap a string for emphasis it is probably the same process you use? Finger under the string quickly. Not that spectacular lolHere is a better example of what I'm talking about. How do you play this?View attachment 7319557
