Whats wrong with my A string? Bad preamp? something else?

Anyone have any more thoughts on this? I’ve tried a few things with regards to string contact points but it hasn’t helped. The noise gets noticeably worse when I boosted the treble.

If the noise is that noticeable post more audio with the treble cranked, since no one other than you can hear it.

Here's some recordings with the treble dimed out. Fresh battery in the bass too. I tried to play with a variety of touches. Please help if you can, its looking like I've got to bring out my back up bass tonight...

Have you tried muting the strings at the nut??? Either a piece of foam or the small velcro straps that they sell.

Yeah, I’ve tried it with just my hand, doesn’t seem to be the nut in this instance, especially since it persists on “stopped” notes (B on the A string for example)
