Haitian Fight Song-Mingus such a memorable bass line.
Fat Time-Miles Davis (marcus miller on bass)
What is Hip-TOP (ROCCO)


the list goes on those are just a few, and FYI Higher Ground is by Stevie Wonder and flea did not make up that bass line stevie did (check out inner visions it's amazing) and also flea is really overrated (IMHO)

My brain has been stuck on a handful of Primus lately, like Jerry was a Racecar Driver, and John the Fisherman. But, they are just current favorites. My normal favorites are (some mentioned already)

Soul to Squeeze and Aeroplane by RHCP, and Interstate Love Song by STP. That dude had some cool basslines. It probably helped that he was locked in with the drummer and his brother on the guitar.

but my absolute favorite bassline ever was cliff burton's bassline in orion that starts at 3:58 its so simple but it fits perfectly and he plays around it so nicely dunno but i always thought this was one of the greatest metallica songs that nobody ever talks about and that bassline in particular is dope as **** even though its slow

Right now I would say the one I play the most is the Hook's beautiful bass line for Stevie Wonder's "I Was Made to Love Her". Well, actually the line I play the most is probably the theme from Barney Miller, but I usually just play the first few bars.

Some other favorites:

I always love JPJ's line on "Ramble On".
At the moment I love playing RHCP's Hump de Bump
My favorites of Sir Paul's lines are Rain and Something
My favorite fretless line is from Paul Simon's "Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes". Bakithi Kumalo is one of my favorite bassists and definitely my favorite fretless player.

And lately (don't laugh please) I've been playing Take It On The Run by REO Speedwagon again. I worked out my own little version since I didn't bother getting tEh tAbZ!!1! Yea I know it's a dirt simple song but once the guitar solo gets going it's really fun to just lay into the bass part. Oddly, I don't even like the song that much, it was just something I used to play with a cover band.

The look on my wife's face is priceless however, "WHAT are you playin?!?!" :eyebrow:
