I'd go with anything from Chic (great groove, great tone, no overplaying) and the Violent Femmes album (acoustic but powerful bass leading the way).

Quadrophenia. The first Who album where I feel the bass was brought to the forefront the way it deserves (unless you count Live At Leeds, also awesome album for bass) and Entwistle really shines.
Second Coming by Stone Roses. Though kinda maligned and not as good as their first album I like a lot of the songs and Mani really plays wonderfully.
Opus Eponymous by Ghost. Nice rock-metally pickstyle. Melodic, yet strongly groovin.
