(Back ground story, skip if uninterested)
Well, my brother gave my dad his Ibanez TR expressionist as collateral for a loan roughly 8 years ago. Being that my brother is not real good about paying people back, he resigned to think he would never get the bass back. Well, for Christmas this year, I made a deal with my dad in order to give the bass, amp, and cab back to my brother. It was pretty sweet because he almost cried when he saw it.

Fast forward to today, he went to Sam Ash and picked up some fender strap locks and a strap for his newly reacquired bass. Now, the ones my brother picked up say fender on the edge. The ones that came with my bass have a patent number on the edge. My friend was asking me if I bought the bass used because he couldn't fathom that they came with the bass new when I bought it.
So, when did Fender start supplying strap locks with their basses? Is that a Jazz Bass Deluxe only item?
