When did you start drinking coffee?

I was about 6 or 7 years old when I started to drink coffee. I used to make my grandmother's coffee for her in the morning (instant Nescafe). I made me a cup at the same time.

I drink between 15-20 cups a day. Fresh ground. I got one of those automatic espesso machines! :hyper: :hyper: :D

Gee, I'm a late starter.
In my backpacking days, I would drink hot tea on those chilly mornings. Started at age 19.

Then it happened. My first son was born when I was 35, and when he joined Boy Scouts at age 11, the hot drink around the campfire was cowboy coffee.

Now I'm an addict and I drink 4 cups before 11 AM every weekday (half that on weekends). But there are worse vices.

Dude, that isn't good. Do you realise how dependant your body is on caffeine?

My old boss used to give up coffee for 40 days during lent. He wasn't a huge coffee drinker, maybe 3-4 cups a day, tops. But every year, after about the second or third day of lent, he'd have to go home early with huge headaches and feeling really sick and irritable. It would last for a couple of days each time.

I saw that and was really thankful for the fact that I don't drink coffee.

I started when I was 29. I drove my truck from Arizona to Alaska and every morning my friend I was travelling would get coffee for us while I refueled the truck. By the time I got to Anchorage, I was a coffee drinker. Never cared for it before then, but now I drink it everyday.

I started drinking coffee in 1995, right after I met my now wife. The second or third drink I had was an eight shot mocha. I was up all night while my sister was in the hospital trying to give birth to her son. I had to stay awake and drive to work, so my wife suggested I try an eight shot mocha.

Yeah, it worked!!!!

In the mid 80s I got a job in the engineering department of an independent UHF TV station. The station had just changed owners, and the new ones invested a lot of money in new facilities. I think their budget for programming was severly strained, because they had some of the cheapest, worst shows imaginable.

So I had to be there at 7 AM to keep an eye on what was mostly really bad programming. It was like having a job counting sheep and drinking warm milk. The job made me into a coffee drinker.
