When Finish and Figured top work together

One of these days I'm gonna overcome my dislike of the Fender body shape and get Nino to build a nice bass with one of those crazy tops.

If you like 5-string basses, then you could go with a Gecko body and neck. Or do like I did this past year and go fully custom. Costs a bit more, but it is worth it.

I've been looking at that body for a while now. I have a nice set of EMG's with an OBP-1 or -3 to go in it.

I alreayd posted that one! It really is gorgeous though isnt it?!?! *droool* The quilt is really not like any other quilt I've seen before, and it's a beautiful sahde of purple.

Yea, the reason I didn't go with it is: I don't like when warmoth simply goes gloss black, on the backside of a really kick ass body.

I think it would look great, but you would have to be careful to pick a body wood that looks good through a transparent finish.

I have a warmoth body that is mahogany with a flame maple top. I went with a dye on the front and black on the back, but I just didn't think that the mahogany would look good with the dye that I chose.

Well, it IS Alder... So, maybe not that great... But, if you go thru & look at the Swamp Ash bodies, w/ the Quilt or Flame tops,,, alot of them have trans backs & look GREAT!!!

None in green, tho.. BUT, you could order it that way!

The back of that Str@t looks great , nice shade of green to complament the grain.. Swamp Ash is the best for trans and Burst finishes.

That light blue burst is gorgeous, kind of like the bora bora blue that Tom Anderson and Wilkins do.

I have a Sadowsky strat with quilt top in a similar green. It looks very nice under stage lights.
