When I`m Sixty Four & 115th Dream

This is converted pretty much verbatim from a Band Score I acquired & sounds fairly close. As usual I won't claim 100% accuracy, but hopefully it's enough for the job.

Most of 'One After 909' is essentially a I-IV-V, but then surprises you by going straight up to the IV after the chorus (the "Pickup my bags" bit, which runs IV-I-II-V).

So... by the numbers...

Intro:

(Rest) I, I, I, I, I, I, I,

Chorus:

I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I,
Stop (I), Stop (I),
IV, IV, IV, IV, I, I, V, V, I, I, I, I
(Repeat)

Verse:

VI, VI, VI, VI, I, I, I, I, II, II, II, II, V, V, V, V,
(Repeat)

Chorus
Solo(Same as the Chorus)
Verse
Chorus with a "three times 'round the block" ending.

Macca keeps it pretty simple with a R-5 line & some straightforward little walks to join the bits up.

There's more than a few country-r'n'r tunes that have this 'surprise IV' (Steve Earle's 'Snake Oil' & Bob Seger's 'Get Out Of Denver' spring to mind, & Jerry Lee's no stranger to it either), so the structure's a good one to have in the toolbox.

I've got the "score" for 'When I'm 64' too, might have a crack at extracting that one tomorrow.

Taken from the same source as '909', I can definitely say this isn't 100%. It misses out a lot of McCartney's nuances, but the basic structure seems sound enough.

EDIT: The Youtube versions all appear to be in C#, whereas the Band Score I converted this from claims it's in C. Odd. I don't have it on CD & my turntable is out of commission so I can't check it against the vinyl at the moment - anyone?

I've been meaning to have a crack at 'Long Tall Sally' for ages, as that's included in the collection I obtained I'll give it a look & see how it compares. Don't hold your breath though.

EDIT 2: Feel free to breathe, LTS now lives here: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?p=10151822#post10151822
