Dear @SJLee thank you for your notes, I’ll make treasure of them. What are you talking about potatoes and carrots for? You lost me there. If you don't think a 300+ year old piece of pine will sound more resonant than a green tree, don't buy it. Simple as that.
Whether the FCS has redesigned anything or not is of no concern to me one way or another. If I don't like their products or prices, I simply don't buy them. That being said, they're a manufacturer and they are free to make what they like as long as there is a market for it. Whether anyone agrees with that or not it is irrelevant.
I have not looked at Music Man basses as they are not my cup of tea. But have you looked at the price of a Fender American Professional II Precision bass lately? It's now $3199.00 US.
1. Seasoned wood is ok; 300+ years old wood (wanna see the certificate; no certificate = debatable origin and age) is difficult to find unrotten but, should this be the case, I firmly believe that it won’t sound that different if compared to a good seasoned wood (resonant? When I play with headphones on only my head is resonating).
2. Fender CS hasn’t added anything remarkable to the original Fender designs; instruments are quite good and I like certain P-basses made by it, but they are now overpriced; better buying them second hand IMO, if a suitable one can be found.
3. Fender Am. Pro. II P-Bass sold at 3199 $ ? Where? In Italy they range from 1950 to 2050 € new .. bah …
In any case buy what you like and what your wallet can afford.
Personally my AO ‘60s P has still got a lot of miles to cover …

How much Crack are they smoking.?
