...Have the timer set to show how much time has gone by on the track, or how much time is left? Or, do you prefer the time gone/total time "hybrid"? (I consider it somewhat "hybridish")

I chose time gone by cause if I were limited to 1 thing, it would be that. But my preference is the iTunes/iPod model which is Time Passed and Time Remaining. You didn't list that one.
