When will Fender release the new Professional III Series?

I'd go for a Mod Shop bass over an Am Pro II any day. Which is what I did actually. My Mod Shop Pbass is an amazing bass, it's got the colour I wanted, and it plays fantastic. What's more, it cost me the same as a brand new Am Pro II here in the UK. So why go for a standard Am Pro II when you can get a more personalised bass for the same money?
What I like about the Mod Shop as well is that they're basically Am Pros I, not II. The neck is not yellow like the II's, which I prefer, and it's a 4 bolt neck attachment too. That's ideal in the unlikely event something goes wrong with the neck, replacements are easier to source than the 5 bolt neck attachment of the Pro II's.

Very happy with my 2025 Fender American Professional II P Bass V. The build quality, playability, and tone are excellent.

Correct. But it's fine with me. The Mod Shop is a very, very simplified "custom shop". Only a few options, nothing that strays too far from the standard production process.

Not only can I not argue with any point made here, I wholeheartedly agree en toto! Once they added a blocked Jazz neck to their options, not to mention circulating a well-timed coupon code, I had to pull the trigger!

And, while it's nice to have something in a non-standard finish, this has me wondering if Fender will start offering Silverburst options in their next generation basses, much like the current Meteora basses.

As for what they...or to be more specific, the marketing department...will call it, it is quite possible they'll grab some other naming convention descriptor...a Fender American <insert simultaneous noun-adjective word here> Series or something like that. After all, I can't think of any Fender/Squier iteration that's gone beyond 2/II.

So, to muddy the waters further, what would you call the next iteration? Go back to "Standard"? Keep going with "Professional"? Something else? "Elite", "Ultra", "Artist" and "Select" are already taken and, personally speaking, words like "Mega", "Super" and "Prime" are kinda dumb in this context. Whadda y'all think?

They made some improvements in 08 that I like and after that it's sorta all the same to me. Some years I like the pickups better, but aside from that it's all the same. I'm not sure what "upgrades" they'll do to justify a new line. I'm sure they'll find something, with a price increase but eh, I think I'm over it.

I greatly prefer the pro one neck finish as well. I hope they return to this in the next iteration. The orange goop is cheap, ugly and sticky in my opinion. Others may and do feel differently about it

You're entitled of course to your own experience and whatever your hands give you, but "sticky" is far from what I've experienced with the very, very satin finish on the back of the Pro II necks.
