When you finally find the perfect bass...

My Lakland is my baby...I found her about 2 years ago for sale in my favorite music store. There were 2 Lakland 55-01's for sale, a black and a natural finish. I bought the black one for $600 (or $700) just as another buyer came into the shop and started asking about it.

In 1999 I got my first American P-Bass which was the first bass I really bonded with. I thought it was cosmetically lacking though, so I sold it and had been through a string of others over the years before finding another P last year that (more than) stacked up. This one's not going anywhere.

In 2005, in the interim between P-basses I got a smoking deal on a new Rick 4003. I was in the market for a '62 reissue P, but the Rick was a now or never deal so I begrudgingly went for it instead. I couldn't believe how quickly and how madly in love with it I was (and still am). It took me a while to get over the guilt, being such a diehard precision guy.

Anyway, these two are "the one" for me. The only GAS I have anymore is for two more just like them.
