Where Did 25 Years Go?

We're in the same class :)
The membership retention rate here at TB is unlike most other websites..... not uncommon to see guys/gals with 15+ years here.

I credit that to the rules prohibiting political discussions..... I'm an Admin of a few other boards and once politics enters the room, all bets are off.

What typically happens is the political crap (even in a "private forum") spills over to the general forums and by then online and irl friendships become fractured. I witnessed this in person on a second generation Camaro page and things have never been the same since.

I must agree about the political discussions, which when I first came here ALWAYS crumbled into yelling, name calling and sometimes, people being banned.

A close second was gun control discussions. HA! :rollno:

Viva Talkbass as it is now! 👍

Indeed Michael, it's been over 25 for me as well. I cannot even remember the name of the sight where we first were hangin' out. My name was datsgor then...and I whole heartedly agree with everything you said here about talkbass. Peace.
Yes, I remember you very well, Dat!

You were one of my first friends here!

There are so many others I remember, like, Xavier Grosson, Thor and Wrong Robot to name a few.

It's good to see you still around here.

Mike ;)

This is your Silver Jubilee, Mike and many more to you!! :woot:

I've partaken of the Talkbass hospitality for 11 and a half years. Just a small amount compared to some.
I'm 65 and wondering if I should start collecting on my SS. Done plenty of shucking and jiving here as well as buying and selling. It's a great forum for us bassists and others to shoot the breeze, the bull, do business or just kill time!
Seems like yesterday I got my Jazz bass here. Now it's 41 years old and it's getting darker and darker as the years go by.
I prefer this to be my barometer of my age instead of a calendar.

The same is true in the gaming community as well. The new (to my eyes.. I've been absent for a bit) Avatar, Mike, ... WE ALL LIVE IN A YELLOW SUBMER .... ummm, errr.. right. :D

Today, I have been here at Talkbass for 25 years.

I really can’t believe it.

I was looking for information on The Jack Casady bass at a different forum, and a member of that forum directed me here.

I have since forgotten his name.

Anyway, I would just like to say again, and sincerely, that Talkbass is the best forum on the net.

Not just because I like talking about basses and music, but because it really has the nicest, most helpful rank and file, and the best moderstors!

I mean that sincerely.

Thank you, Paul, and thank you, Mods.

Here’s to as many more years at Talkbass that the Lord gives me.

You’re all the best!

Mike ;)

Cheers to 25 years!

We signed up right around the same time. I passed my 25th anniversary on Nov. 14. I have no recollection of why I signed up but it was probably to fight with someone about amp clipping. :D TB is definitely the best resource for bass players on the web and the tight moderation keeps even Off Topic pretty cordial. I don't post as much as I used to do but I usually check in every day.

Since I'm also a 'Mike' among so many in this thread, and been here forever too.

Back in '99 I took a graveyard shift (4/10's, mon-thur), and had alot of middle of the night time to kill, discovered TB just as it started.
It seemed like those first couple of years it went through huge server changes because my user ID disappeared and I kept having to rejoin.
I think my user profile says joined 2001, but it was much longer than that!
