Firstly - a few points:
You don't need to go visit the local arena. This will just hip them to the fact that you are not. Send them your technical rider. Believe it or not they have seen it all before and they'll be ready for ya before they finish their second doughnut of the morning. (Yes, do bring doughnuts and coffee with you if you wanna make some friends that can make your life a whole lot easier -Oh, and also show up with your Steel Panther disc and say clever things like "My other car is a Prevost")
You will simply be breaking out from the house. This will be cam locks to five 4/0 (say "four ought" - so they don't gaff tape your nads to your chin) feeder cables times however many drops you require. From there on it's up to you. The "idiot" that came up with reversing ground and neutral was trying to save you from yourself. It avoids connecting a hot to ground or neutral and wasting your gear and/or yourself. (Hint : It goes like this - Green first - White second - Black, Red and Blue next. Reverse this order when doing your disconnect and you just may live to play Detroit Rock City tomorrow night) If you have the money to buy this gear and tour it you would be wise to hire a pro to act as your TD. I know many people who will go on the road and save you from making a fool of yourself and/or getting yourself killed. Just pay them their day rate and their expenses/per diem and they'll do it with a smile. The Furman units you mention are a joke at this level (plus they often ADD noise). Go here if you want the stuff the big boys use: Invalid Link Removed
I have worked with and at times still do work with major acts at stadium and arena levels. These acts hire the best in the business to provide the best product (that would be YOUR sound). Yep, most of the cabinets and amps on stage are props. This is for good reason. You would be wise to look in to principles like Syn Aud Con. 32 speaker cabinets times 4 speakers per are going to create such an ugly set of point sources battling each other that no amount of PA will be able to correct your mess. Can you say comb filter meets Godzilla on crack? Sure you can. This would be the sonic equivalent of all the braless big-boobed hippie chicks at a general admission Dead show rushing the front of the stage the second that the gates open. (Ah - such sweet memories!) Besides in-ear monitors will make you just as deaf - even more quickly if you're in a hurry. If you think that what will come off the stage will sound better than a well engineered Clair Bros., D&B Acoustics, L' Acoustics, or Meyer system then you need to educate yourself some son.
Secondly:
If you ever do get this beast up and running and in a real house (and I'm talking way beyond a 5000 seater) can I bring my Spector, and my Octabass, and my Brown Dog, and my Agent OOFunk Mark II by and plug in? I just split the crotch of my jeans thinking about it!
Megalomania!!!! - Joy!!!!
P.S. Can we start a club for this thread? I wanna be your #1 fan. "If lovin' you is wrong, I don't wanna be right"
P.P.S. This IS all part of the next Spinal Tap (or is it Spinal Pap?) movie - Isn't it? I SO know it's just gotta be!
