Where does creativity come from?

I don't know about you guys but i always feel as if I'm playing the same things over and over!! Same progressions, same grooves, same solo's etc.. I'm sure all been there

Thats kinda what i mean...

I think a lot of it is just time.. I want to be the player ill probably be in 5 years.. NOW

Maybe Should spend more time listening to music than playing ....?

I hear ya, and I think you're right - gotta break out of our comfort-zones and listen/learn different music. Take on musical pieces that seem daunting and keep plugging away until you surprise yourself and start to "get" it.

No pleasure like accomplishing something you previously thought you couldn't.

My 2 cents anyway - not a pro but this seems to work for me.

Look somewhere outside of music

I was recently fascinated by a style of dance that I had never heard of before (shuffle/hardstyle) I had no idea what to expect and I watched a video and-BOOM! The dude looked like he was gliding around doing somesort of moonwalk thing. I was perplexed!

....then again......I was high. . .:/
