I'm looking for some expertise...
Amp expertise.
I'm running FatStacks through a Nordy 3 band...active and passive. I'm looking for an amp that allows the bass to speak, at least, as much as the amp. IM aware that true transparency would likely come from an all wood acoustic but would appreciate suggestions for my situation...for both amp-n-cab and combos, as I'm not sure what I can afford for a bit.

If I read your post correctly, you're looking for a transparent amp or combo? If so, my recommendations for amps that introduce very little coloration with the tone controls set to neutral would be Markbass, Gallien-Krueger, or a Carvin head. Some combos I've demo'd with transparent sound with controls set to neutral are from Markbass and TC Electronic.

Amps with neutral presentation and little coloration are also referred to as "hi fi sound" or "modern sound" in the forums. There are quite a few threads that cover this, including discussions on tone settings that can be used with many other brands to eliminate or greatly reduce the tone they inherently have when controls are set to neutral.

If you have a pre-amp that already has the tone options you like, a very low priced option (for high wattage) for a truly transparent amp would be a pro amp made for DJ's, such as Crown.

Here's a few suggestions:

1) Aguilar AG-500 (SC) - Fairly neutral amp. It still has a little warmth to it but not like others in the line. The TH350/500 are also decent with the right drive and gain settings although there's a little more warmth.

2) GenzBenz GBE1200 - Very clean amp to my ears. It has a slightly modern tone to it that is similar but far less pronounced than my GK 800RB. I've read other GB models are also clean but I'll have to defer to someone else's expertise.

3) Glockenklang - Very pricey but if you want transparent, this is the way to go. I just got a Heart Rock II and with my Dingwall ABZ (Glockenklang pre) it almost sounds like a piano to my ears at times. Beautiful.

Thanks for the advice. I've known and liked GK for years and am glad to hear they are still a good sound option. Crown is also an amp I know...but as a PA amp...wouldn't have thought for bass.
I've heard about and seen reviews for Markbass. Never played one. And, didn't know TC Electronic beyond band and recording equipment.
You have given me some interesting avenues to explore... And I will look at some of the threads you mentioned. THEN it'll be time to plug into a few and see what I find. Thank again for a starting direction.

I'd heard Glockenklang on-boards were awesome. Now I know they make something to plug into. I was also curious about Aguilar... Mainly the Tonehammer but this suggestion makes me want to try the AG.
GenzBenz...never considered one but will try it on for size...you mentioned the GK. Liked them in the day. Still good it seems.

IME, the most transparent amp is anything made by Acoustic Image; whatever goes in is what comes out. Fast transients
and surprisingly small footprint. They are very popular with acoustic bass guys but not as well known for electric bass.
You can also look at Walter Woods, but they are kind of hard to find.
