*Where the heck does chris wolstenholme get his pickguards?!?!

I'll get to work on that.:bassist:
Let me give you the rest to that riff.

The song is Hysteria by Muse. It is in 4/4, all 16th notes at 94bpm.

A|0 0 10 0 12 0 10 0 7 0 8 8 0 7 5 7| -> E|0 0 10 0 12 0 15 0 12 0 15 15 0 12 15 17| ->
D|0 0 10 0 12 0 10 0 10 9 0 9 8 0 8 0| -> A|12 0 10 0 12 0 10 0 7 0 8 8 0 7 5 7| ->
E|0 0 10 0 12 0 15 0 12 0 15 15 0 12 15 17| -> etc.

I may not have transposed it correctly, but who really cares.

ok. two things i noticed. first off, it's a 9 minute "excerpt". and b) i didn't think it could get any worse than the band named Complete.....i...was wrong. <facepalm>
Imagine a show with both on the bill!:eek:

Cheers, I actually did recognise it, and knew how to play the bit you first posted, but not the rest, cool deal dude!:)

He has a Fender American Deluxe Jazz..but the only pickguard i can find for it is black with red tortoise design thingy, but his are all black...where the heck does he get them anyone know (their 9-hole 3 ply)

I believe you are seeing a spray painted pickguard on the red Jazz Deluxe. It looks like the paint is worn off where he rests his thumb, and various scratches here and there.
He actually has been known to have things painted before....he had a red Pedulla that Matt painted all black.

It's a really cool riff - I learned it from the CD recently when I found most tabs I could find to be wrong (as usual), and I ended up agreeing with this one here:

http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/m/muse/hysteria_btab.htm

Only checked the main riff, though :)

I think the classiest pickguards out there come from Invalid Link Removed. All are .125 plexiglass with polished edges. They do solid colors for $50. Fender wishes they made pickguards like this. Rickenbacker does.

www.pickguardheaven.com has single-ply black (no white outline) in plastic and plexiglass. www.terrapinguitars.com is another.

There's absolutely nothing special about Fender PGs, so I wouldn't worry about having a "knockoff".

I think that's supposed to be:

A| 0 0 10 0 10 12 0 10 0 7 0 8 8 7 5 7 | - > E| 0 0 10 0 10 12 0 15 0 12 0 15 15 12 15 17 | - > D| 0 0 10 0 10 12 0 10 0 10 9 0 9 8 0 8 7 | -> A| 0 10 0 10 12 0 10 0 7 0 8 8 7 5 7| - |0 0 10 0 10 12 0 10 0 7 0 8 8 7 5 7.

That's how I play it at least, and it sounds right.

Actually, I was wrong originally.

It is:
A| 0 0 10 0 10 12 0 10 0 7 0 8 8 7 5 7 | -> E| 0 0 10 0 10 12 0 15 0 12 0 15 15 12 15 17 | -> D| 0 0 10 0 10 12 0 10 0 10 9 0 9 8 0 8 |

For the first three bars.

Then:
A| 12 0 10 0 10 12 0 10 0 7 0 8 8 7 5 7| -> E| 0 0 10 0 10 12 0 15 0 12 0 15 15 12 15 17 | - > D| 0 0 10 0 10 12 0 10 0 10 9 0 9 8 0 8 |

Repeated until the chorus.

Why are we assuming that he didn't/wouldn't buy a knockoff replacement anyway? I know that J bass originally came with a white guard, there are pics of it when it was newer in the studio recording Black Holes and Revelations. He apparently just spray painted it. But I'm sure he isn't that high maintenence to need a Fender pickguard if he wanted another color.
