Where to get an Ampeg SVT-350 head repaired?

A friend bought a nice used Ampeg rig locally off of Craigslist. It included a solid state SVT-350 head and the upper end 4x10LFE cab. Got a great deal on it.

When we went to pick it up, the owner had it on already and a bass plugged in, we tried it out and it sounded fine, no issues.

He got it home and tried it out a few days later a started having problems with it. Popping, static, cutting out and now completely shutting down.

We know for a fact it was working (at least for a few minutes) when we demo'd it before buying and that it has not been abused, dropped, jostled around or anything like that since it has been in our possesion.

It's been in a local authorized Ampeg repair shop for 3 weeks now. The shop has replaced several components and relays and still hasn't fixed it.

He only owe's $35 on it at this point because it has not been repaired and he is wanting to take it (or send it elsewhere).

Any suggestions on what to do in this situation? Surely it's repairable, no? Just need to find a qualified tech...hopefully.

Where is everyone at. This is a good question.
What would the dealer say?
IS there any repair business that you would recommend?
Someone has got to had some work done on an Ampeg or does some work. Here's more information for you to sink your teeth in:
Relay switch was replaced. After the switch was replaced it continues to cut it self off to protect itself from high voltage surges etc.

Sounds like your current shops just been blindly substituting the component's they happen to have in stock.

I think you'll have better chance of someone recommending a competent amp tech if you were to post where your located.

wow , if its an ampeg repair center i dont know what to tell you . surely some ARE better than others , but this one should be competent . 3 weeks isnt a long time to be in the shop , although when its your amp it seems like it is . there may be problems in line that have to be repaired before the next one can be identified . i would call ampeg ......

We did and Ampeg has not been much help at all. He owes $35, and is about to give up on it. Any advice on where to send it? He's up for shipping it anywhere; S. FL, Atlanta, Nashville.
