Where would delay be best placed??

I was wondering where it would be best to place my DOD digital delay on my board. The pic below is where I've had it in my chain for awhile now. But now that I've gotten my B7K things are changing around. So what are your thoughts. Also, have any of you had experience with the MXR bass fuzz deluxe with the B7K? It's been off my board for awhile but since I put the B7k on, I'm thinking the fuzz may do me good now.

I like my delays last in the chain. But depending on how your using your preamps (from where the BK7 & VT Bass are at in the chain I'm assuming your using them as preamp's atleast). I'd have the BK7 last on the fact that I want the DI taking all of my signal(delay included) to the board)

Side note, how's the Bass Chorus Deluxe?

Thanks, I had the B7K last before. I'll probably switch it back that way as I liked it that way better.

The MXR is pretty sweet. I use it primarily as a flanger because I have the boss CEB3 on my board too. The MXR will stay there until I find something better. Haven't tried tons of chorus pedals but I think it's great. It's prodominant yet mellow depending on how you set it. The bass and treble knobs give you more tonal options and the Xover is cool too depending on what you're doing.

I have been debating this exact same question with my B7K.

I always like my overdrive/distortion/fuzz section to be before my filters/delays/reverb but will miss out on having the B7K as my DI. I know a lot of people put there Preamps (e.g. Tonehammer, Rusty box) last but do you notice much difference on their delays/filters if this is done? Or when putting you Preamp last, do you reduce the gain so much that your tone is not extremely changed?

I have mine (delay/reverb) just before my preamp pedal, which is last in the chain. I want my preamp to effect EVERYTHING on my board, including the delayed signal. I mean, it's just a copy of my original signal, so why not eq it as I would normally? But yeah, it really is a personal taste thing.

Of course with the B7K you're adding dirt, which may or may not get you different harmonic results placed before or after a delay. I don't know, maybe there isn't a difference. :hmm:

Tough call since a DI should be last in the chain if you want everything going to the board.

I don't know that I would call that order standard. I usually go:

Bass/pitch/dirt/modulation/delay.

That's one of the issues with combo pedals, they don't always fit as nicely into an effect chain as easily. Sometimes you have to pick which aspect is your priority and sacrifice the other.
