Which 2 x 10" cabinet should I get?

like anything else in the world of music............. What does your taste in music want? I love my 210 Hydride combo. Its basically a 210 hydride cab with an LH500 rack amp built on top. but i can tell you this, Avatar makes some great cabinets and if you call them, they can load it with just about any speaker. And I think they bought out the stock of eden 10's. I would look at Avatar first. you could probably get Eden 10s in an Avatar cab for a good deal.

EDIT: I guess I should have read a bit more. Seems Avatar is one of the top replies. And Avatar picked up the Genz-Benz line off speakers not Eden. Sorry for the misinformation. Still a hell of a product Line, Trust me, they are built very well and with the options of speakers and cover color, its truly a custom high-end cab, without the boutique price.

And I'd only consider them a good way down the list precisely for the reason you mention . They'll load the same cab with multiple different drivers. There's no way that any such cab can be optimized in that scenario. Seems to me that to a great degree, Avatar is a S.I.A.B. (@ attractive price points).

I hear your Point, But remember Cubic volume can be reduced from a large size cab with simply adding additional bracing. Plus optimum frequency range for speakers can carry from 1/10th of a cubic foot up to 1 full cubic foot depending on what frequency range your are running the box and speaker combo to. I spent the better part of 9 years designing and building cabs in the car stereo world. True its not the exact same monster, but 90% of speaker volume and tuning size is directly correctable to this world.
If you never personally Heard or Tried one, I would suggest that you do. Are they going to go toe to toe with Epifani, DNA or Aguilar???? Of course not. Will you get a great sounding, rugged and durable enclosure that can handle a good deal of excursion and fit into many genres of music..... Absolutely. IF you've got the cash to drop $850+ on a 210 cab, by all means spend away. if your like most of us who do small side project or church stuff, these Avatars will give you one of the best cost to quality ratios.

Are there outfits that ask that number, or some that ask even more? Sure. But are there outfits that ask a good bit less? You betcha. Shoot, if I wanted to drop serious bucks for new, I'd do a custom with top-of-the-line, apex 10s & still probably not have to fork out $850. And then there's the whole wide wonderful world of used gear. No one has a gun to his temple requiring that new gear be bought.
