Which amp with an Epifani UL210

That's a very wide, open sounding cab, as is that head. I would think that would be quite scooped sounding.

I would think the Thunderfunk550b (they come up for sale used quite a bit) would match well with either the 8ohm or 4ohm version. That head has a tight low end and LOT's of mid presence, and lot's of control over the lower mids. The Eden WT405 would be another option... again, warm, fat, mid present and tight in the low end.

I got a Little Mark II paired with a Epifani UL210 Series I cab and it sounds fantastic.As for the low-mids I think the cab itself is a little relaxed in that area which is probably a part of the problem for trying to get that tone your looking for.The Little Mark II EQ is well voiced for the Epifani cabs and a little low-mid boost sounds great.

The only thing I wish was that the low end could be a little punchier as it sounds a bit loose and open.I agree with Kjung it is somewhat an open sounding cab,which is probably why the low end can sound a bit boomy and the mids not being so prominent.That being said people on here seem to say the UL210 is very scooped which I disagree it's still a great sounding cab.

Alot of people seem to think the Eden cabs have a low-mid hump which is maybe a solution but I've never really heard any Eden stuff myself and I'm guessing you want to keep the cab.

I've tried a number of heads with my UL210. The Markbass
F1 sounded very nice with this box. Better than the LMII.
More punch in the low mids and tighter on the bottom.

The GK800RB also sounded great with the UL210. Not really
old school. Not really modern...sort of "middle school". It would
have been better if my box was 4ohms, to get a little more
juice out of the GK.

The Eden WT400 was kind of nice too. Very supportive lows
that were thick and lush. I was able to eq in some punch and
cut to the upper mids. The highs were quite sweet. The
overall sound was just a touch dark, but nice. Main issue is
it didn't have enough power.

The Euphonic Audio iamp500, had a simply amazing low end
with the UL210. All I wanted to do was stay on the bottom of
the bass, be it for slapping or fingers or pick, whatever. It
was deep and tight (s'cuse me) and sexy. Which is very good
because from the mids up, this amp sucked. Very frustrating.
I couldn't get a decent upper end out of this head.

Most of the time I use a Focus I as a power amp, with either
a Sansamp ParaDriver or an Aguilar Tone Hammer. (soon)
Both of these preamps sound great with the Focus and are
"Swiss Army Knife" like in nature. Great tone and easy to use.

Thank you all.

I was thinking about the Markbass heads but i forgot that the Eden amps will also fit my needs. I'm an old Eden owner and i still regret my WT300. :crying:

The TF is very difficult to get in France as there is no distributor and it seems to be very close to Eden, no?

What do you thing of the Aguilar AG500?


I really want to keep the cab because it is light and fairly loud.

I've got the Series 1 UL210 and it reminds me of a sub. My first thought was an F1 even though I haven't played through one. They're supposed to be tight in the lows and zingy in the upper mids. The Shuttle 6.0 (you knew it was coming;)) does a great job with this cab too.

Y'know, I had a Shuttle 6.0 for a moment. I didn't get to use
it on a gig with the UL210. The 6.0 might be a very nice head
with this box too. I could have gotten much more volume out
of the F1 and UL210 if the box had been 4 ohms. I think in
general, the smaller Markbass amps do much better at 4 ohms.

Seriously, IMHO the UL-210 series 1 is a great cab. It just has to be used within it's limits. Don't use it as a standalone and expect it to punch through a really loud mix or fill a huge venue. I've owned mine since July of '04 and still enjoy using it. The advice about pairing it with an amp that has a punchy midrange and tight low end makes a lot of sense. :)

Thank you for your advices. I'm going to consider those amps.

I'm trying to find a better sound, using my Ibanez . And i found a more open and efficient sound by boosting the 800Hz frequency. The sound is a little bit nasal but it help me to cut through the mix.
Another problem with the EBS/Epifani couple is the treble frequencies : it's too harsh even with flat settings on the cab and on the head.
