Which Ampeg head should i buy????

I'd say the 4PRO for sheer flexibility. I've owned one before, and I've also had the SVT-CL. I really regret selling the 4PRO, it and my old SVP-Pro preamp was probably the best setup I've ever had. The SVT Classic had one decent sound, but zero flexibility. I'm a guy that likes one head to do a million things, as opposed to one amp for every task. The 4PRO accomplished a lot for a single amp!

i had a 3 pro for a while, it was a great head and i regretted selling it...

until i got the 4 pro. i can say with all confidence that i am completely happy with the tone and power and i am all set when it comes to amps. very versatile and easy to dial in a good sound for any situation. my GAS is now limited to basses only!

Ive owned a SVT-III Pro and hated it, nothing but problems. Ive used the 4's and had better luck, but never liked the limited tone, unless I had brand new strings. But, I understand the portability issue. Good Luck.

how does the 4 PRO rate in weight compared to the SVT CL????????????????????

according to Musicians Friend, the 4 pro is 42 lbs compared to 80 for the SVT CL, so about half the weight. i've never owned or lifted a CL so i can't speak from experience, but i can say for me personally the 4 pro is quite manageable, even 1 handed. i wouldn't want to lug around anything much heavier though...

I use and Ampge SVT-4 Pro and I absolutely LOVE it. It has enough power for anything... My band and I recently opened up for Blue Oyster Cult and April Wine in and OUTSIDE venue and there was plenty of on stage bass with just my cab...IT WORKS FOR EVERYTHING

I strongly recomend the SVT 2 Pro, I bought the old model 6 months back and its cracking! Honestly, save that little bit longer and go for it. Im too skint to buy decent speakers for it though any recommendations? but anyway, what ever sound you're after, you'll easily find it on the 2 Pro.

The SVT4 is an awesome head. If I didn't have to haul my rig around in my jeep I would still be using mine. I have an ad in the classifieds here if you are interested.

I've had an SVT II pro which sounded boss, heavy and plenty of gain. I sold it to size down my 8 space rack for just an SVT VR. I wasn't sure what I was getting in to but I'm totally pumped on it. I play it with a Ratt distortion pedal and its got a mean tone. I'd go all out on any all tube ampeg. vintage or new you'll find a good sound.

Stay away from the B2RE and the SVT-450H.

Try the Hartke LH1000, thats what I run with my SVT-410

None of them until Loud Technologies gets some support in place. Try getting parts for any Ampeg or ask your amp technician
