Which Ampeg Rig?

Hey y'all,

This is my first thread so hopefully y'all will steer me in the right direction.

It's about time for me to get a new rig and Im set on Ampeg but the question is which one. Right now Im running a BBE SonicMaximizer Rack Unit through a GK Backline 600 head and a GK 410BLX-II head. I've had these since the series came out and it's not the tone Im looking for.

I've played through Ampeg stuff on occasion and I love the tone it has clean and when I crank up my OD. Im wondering what y'all suggest for the next step up for my cab and head. Im kinda leaning towards the B-Series 410 but the SVT 410HLF is not out of the question either. Ideally Id want to get the SVT-VR, but Im not gonna have 2K to spend on a head.

If I could keep the rig to under 2K, that would be awesome. WHAT DO Y'ALL SUGGEST????

If you shop around (consider used - and stick with SLM-made), you could quite possibly score a CL and an 8x10 and be within your budget.

Right. Maybe even less. I've seen 2 Pros go for $800-900. And I've seen the cabs go for dirt cheap just because people want them out of the house.

I donno if I can afford vintage. But if I could, Id do it in a heartbeat

Vintage is no more expensive than new, and it's often way less if you're patient and willing to accept a beater. OTOH, you might have to drop a little cash into them, but still, it's a good way to go with Ampegs.

Yeah you just have have to look for something that its not in super mint condition
