Which bass for a power trio?

Keep the octaver on subtle all the time and buy a POG for the upper register and kick on the POG (turning off the boss) when there's a solo. Bass gets REALLY thick and it's easier to play than a 12 string. Mild chorus helps too.

I'm in a power trio now. I feel ANY bass can work. It's the player. But when I first joined. I was using my Jazz bass. Both the Drummer & Guitar player commented on how my Jazz Bass didn't sound as strong & full as their other BP & most who auditioned.(Bass were all using the same amp) It was just a passing comment. Nothing was said after. Few weeks later I came with a PBass. I have not owned a P in over 47 years. The Jazz worked well. But the P was seemingly right at home. Not much EQing. Just Plug & Play. BTW I'm not a Pbass Pusher. But WOW !! It just Flat Out Worked !! Proved itself. ( I was almost disappointed that it fit/sounds so nice) But I still love my Jazzy !!

It's probably already been said but having an 8 or 12 string multi-course bass works exceptionally well in a rock trio setting. Not for all songs, but for a lot of them it helps fill out the sonic space particularly when the guitarist takes a solo.

I personally prefer the sound of a P, but the Stringray would be good for that era of music too.

Gut reaction and heart says P bass, but a sting ray for punk tone is always great so I'm thinking that one.
Since you said its a jam take any ax that you can get your tone without having to over compensate and relax and enjoy the Jam! ... Me I would take one in the following order P, J, or Ray and enjoy!
